Living the laptop lifestyle is everyone's dream and it has been on almost everyone's mind over the past decade, and even more so since the recent lockdown, why? Because people like to do what they like, follow their dreams and their passions and also to be their own boss if they can be.
With all the advancements in technology, with better laptops, improved internet speed for uploading, downloading, video streaming, live events and webinars, cloud storage for eBooks, Audiobooks and online courses, this is becoming easier and better for just about anyone who is willing and also dares to take some risks to make a go of it.
Some people, start their learning as a side hustle to gain some experience before they quit their 9 – 5 jobs.
What is it?
The laptop lifestyle means, you can work remotely doing what you love and passionate about from anywhere you wish and all you need is your laptop, internet access and in some cases a mobile phone.
What are the benefits?
The main benefit of living the laptop lifestyle is having the freedom to work from anywhere which means you can travel the world or move to different places or countries as and when you please and doing all that while you are still earning a living or maybe more.
Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
In some cases, it also means you can choose the number of hours you work, which days you work and also being your own boss.
Who is it for?
This can be for anyone who is willing to put in the effort required in order to have the freedom and the choices they desire.
In general, it can be a Remote Employee, a Freelancer or an Entrepreneur.
A remote employee means you still have a boss and they may dictate which hours and days you work, it is like a normal job but without being tied to a physical work location.
Examples of this job, is computer support, call centre staff, insurance or mobile communications call support staff, and many other similar jobs.
A freelancer is someone who has special knowledge and can provide services either on project basis or periodic contract work.
Examples can be a graphics designer, logo designer, web developer, data backup and maintenance and many other types of specialised services.
An Entrepreneur is someone who is his or her own boss, they provide a service, physical products or content that people need to help them transition, learn a specific skill or solve a problem they have.
They can decide where and when to work and make all the decisions related to their niche. This can be the hardest but also the most rewarding type of career for living the laptop lifestyle.
What will the future look like?
The future can be awesome, working when you want as many or few hours and days, spend more time with your family, friends and on your hobbies and passions.
If you create content, this can be either consumable like a blog or digital like eBooks, Audiobooks and Digital Courses.
The latter is the best type for the future because the type of content you create can be assets for providing ongoing passive income, which means, even after you retire, you can still be rewarded from the content you've created.
This is what I started doing 3 years ago, creating online courses, and I can share with you, that it is the best decision I have made in my entire life.
The most important aspect to consider before creating any info product, be it an eBook, Audiobook or a Digital Course, you must make it your top priority to help people, because when you help others, you get rewarded back multiple times.
Whatever your passion, knowledge or skill is, you can turn it into an online course to help people make that transition, learn your skill or solve the problem they need help with.
If You believe you have what it takes to live the laptop lifestyle, remember one of the most memorable quotes from Shakespeare
“To Thine Own Self Be True”,
live your passion – don't live what somebody else has planned for you.
